King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality is a local municipality situated in the District of OR Tambo District Municipality in the inland of Eastern Cape Province in Republic of South Africa.  The King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality was established before the 2000 local government elections when the Mthatha and Mqanduli transitional and rural areas were merged.The municipality was named after King Sabata Dalindyebo because he was seen as a unifying figure to the people of both Mthatha and Mqanduli and was seen as a hero who fought for the freedom of South Africa. The King Sabata Dalindyebo municipality is having its main offices at the City of Mthatha and its satellite offices are located at Mqanduli.  

The municipality comprises two magisterial areas, viz. Mthatha and Mqanduli and their surrounding rural areas. The municipality is largely rural in character with the urban areas concentrated around the towns. It is 3 028 km2 in extent and had a population of 444 832 persons in 2007, which rose to 451 710 in 2011.The number of households in 2007 was 93 382, and this increased to 95 382 in 2011. The major economic activities in the municipality are forestry and agriculture, although agriculture is of more of a subsistence nature. 

It is composed of a range of settlement forms and land uses, namely, urban areas, rural settlements, privately owned farms and small holdings. Neighboring local municipalities (LM) are Nyandeni LM to the North-east, Mhlontlo LM to the North, Engcobo LM to the West, and Mbhashe LM to the South.

The Municipality covers an area of 3027 square kilometers and currently has 36 wards as against 35 prior 2016 Local Government accommodating an estimated population of 451 710 people in 105,240 households

He was born in Mqanduli, King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipal area in the Eastern Cape. Councillor Zozo is a former Educator who served in a number of schools in the Eastern Cape, Prior to devoting his time to serving the KSD communities, he served as an Educator working up the ranks in the Department of Education up to the level of a Circuit Manager, where he was responsible for Coordination and management of schools, Support and Evaluation of teaching and learning, Governance Policy Implementation in Public institutions, Stakeholder relations management and budget allocation. He left this position in 2011 to join the KSD Municipality.

His love for children still tilts his compass towards them. He has been with the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality from 2011 where he served as the Chief Whip of the Council and was in 2013 elected the Speaker of Council until the 3rd August 2016. He is the current Executive Mayor of the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality which has 72 councillors and 36 wards. He is a member of the African National Congress (ANC) which is the party in government. He also served in a number of forums established to support governance in municipalities. He has held a number of leadership positions in the struggle for liberation, which inter alia includes being a member of the Mthatha Youth Congress, Publicity Secretary of the South African National Student Congress of the Lumko branch, Regional Executive member of the ANC Youth League in Transkei Region and a Board member of the Transkei Community School Building Trust. Politically, he currently serves as a member of the ANC Regional Executive Committee in the O.R Tambo Region which is the second largest region in South Africa. His undergraduate studies are in the field of education and his Post-grad in Public Administration.

Subsequent to attaining his Honours Degree in Public Management, he pursued his MPA in Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University which he is still pursuing. Behind his name are a number of certificates in management Practice, Project Management Conflict Management and Local Government Transformation. Serving the people, accounting thereto and changing their lives for the better should be a title of a book he will write as he always speaks of such with enthusiasm. He is passionate about South African economy and rural economic development and has established a number of programmes that support sustainability of local projects, the last being the KSD Economic Model which will see restructuring of economic activity in each of the 36 wards and unleashing the potential therein. His compass is tilted towards the vulnerable groups in society being: the poor the underdeveloped and the working class. “Our ordinary people must be served and supported with all the means available towards their total emancipation”
