KSD CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMMS EMPOWER YOUTH AND WOMEN

King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality has engaged on various capacity building programmes designed to empower KSD youth and women. These programmes are implemented through partnerships forged with private sectors and government entities. Recently, the Municipality working in partnership with Lindamahle Management System conducted an empowerment programme where more 1000 women were trained on Digital Skills. These women coming from all 36 KSD wards were empowered on how to promote themselves and their businesses online. They are taught on how to get noticed by the right people, and how to make the most of the web to achieve their goals. The training was offered for free and beneficiaries will receive certificates of attendance and they also have an opportunity to further their training online. Those who have made a good use of the skills acquired will be rewarded accordingly by Google. The programme is also part of celebrating Mama Albertina Sisulu and Dr Nelson Mandela Centenary. Lindamahle Management System is contracted by Google to provide digital skills to the people of South Africa. It is Google’s endeavor to address digital divide predicament facing economic deprived countries. Lindamahle is the company deeply rooted to Mthatha as its directorship belong to Mthatha born-residents. Their endeavor of empowering KSD people is driven by the passion to see Mthatha people beating digital divide and being economic drivers of this area. 7000 East Capetonians will be equipped by Lindamahle on digital skills. This programme will also be spread throughout South Africa. Addressing the trainees, KSD Executive Mayor, Councillor Dumani Zozo encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity presented to them and use it to improve the economy of KSD. He reminded them that Coffee Bay as the third town of KSD will need their digital skills to make it a reality. The Executive Mayor further made a clarion call to all KSD born people who have made it in life to plough back in this areas and assist their Municipality in its fight to rid the area of poverty and joblessness.
