KSD Executive Mayor Cllr Nyaniso Nelani held a Media briefing and Stakeholder Engagement sessions to unpack his first one hundred (100) days programme in office since he has been elected by King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipal Council on 26 April 2019. These sessions were held recently at Mthatha Stadium with the aims to share with various stakeholders about plans put in place to address key service delivery issues.
The 100 days programme will focus on areas lifted on Service Delivery Budget and Implementation Plan (SDBIP) which includes: beautification of KSD towns i.e. Mthatha and Mqanduli; ease of traffic flow in town; dark streets around urban areas; maintenance of road infrastructure and strengthening of stakeholder relations.
In addressing these issues, the Executive Mayor indicated that the Municipality has already started with clearing all the illegal dumping sites and 22 skipper will be placed around peri urban areas to curb trash dumping. He also announced that the municipality will launch a campaign with the intension to intensify Thuma Mina Green Deeds Programme. Open spaces and city gardens will be seen developed and plans to facelift government precinct are underway. A service provider has also been contracted to maintain traffic lights. “KSD Municipality is not for the KSD leadership alone but for us as the entire community” said the Executive Mayor. In concluding his speech, he called upon private sectors and community at large to lend hand towards taking KSD to better heights.
Prior to these stakeholder engagement sessions, the municipality also conducted a five (5) day workshop to review number of policies and financial recovery. The purpose of the workshop was have an in depth look on the effectiveness and compliance of the policies and put strategies for revenue enhancement.
