KSD Municipality celebrated the return home of Mthatha artist, Dyna Steez, who won the Hip Hop Artist of the year 2024 award at the Basadi in Music Awards. The awards were held at Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein, Johannesburg on the 10th of August 2024 with the aim to celebrate and honour women in South African music industry.
Dayna Steez, actual name Anelisa Makinana, competed against well-known hip hop artists like Nadia Nakai, FiFi Cooper, and others in her category.
The 21-year-old rapper had a passion for music at very young age. After passing her matriculation in 2019, she began her career in music. She expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported her during this journey and enabled her to fulfill her dream.
In welcoming her on Tuesday, August 13, at Freedom Square, Executive Mayor Cllr. Nyaniso congratulated Dyna Steez for her achievement and praised her for putting Mthatha on the map.
