King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality in partnership with various stakeholders hosted a Deaf Awareness campaign at Qokolweni in Ward 35.
The campaign was aimed to promote understanding and appreciation of Deaf culture and the importance of sign language. The initiative sought to advocate for equal access to education, employment, and healthcare for the Deaf community, fostering equality and social integration.
The Campaign was graced by the presence of the member of the mayoral committee (MMC) for Special Programs Unit (SPU) Councillor (Cllr) Andiswa Ketse.
Speaking on behalf of the King Sabata Dalindyebo Executive Mayor Cllr Nyaniso Nelani, Cllr A. Ketse said that the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality is committed to ensuring that people living with disabilities are treated with the same dignity and respect as those without disabilities. She further assured them that they are considered and treated equally like everybody. Concluding her message of the day, Cllr. A ketse encouraged them to participate in all programmes/ activities taking place in KSD Municipal areas.
