“We are excited to receive our honored guests in this Ward including guests from other countries. We want our schools fully developed to be conducive for educational activities so that this province can continue producing leaders like tata Nelson Mandela”, these were the words of KSD Executive Mayor, Cllr. G.N Nelani welcoming guests at Chibini Junior Secondary School, at Nqwathi Village under Ward 17 on Thursday, 29 February 2024.
The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Honourable Candith Mashego-Dlamini joined by several foreign Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to South Africa visited Chibini Junior Secondary School to handover goods donated by foreign diplomatic missions to support the school.
We must welcome the support from the Asian Group countries that are united to deal with economic growth in their respective countries with whom SA is a strategic partner making it the first African country to be accepted in the partnership”, said the Deputy Minister to a loud cheer from the gallery.
Goods donated include sports equipment, stationery, smart boards, Samsung tablets and a sum of R100 000 that was pledged the People’s Republic of China for the building of the school kitchen.
The ambassadors hail from more than ten countries, such as China, Singapore, Senegal, South Korea, Malaysia, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Nigeria, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Burundi and Zambia.
Prior to the outreach, a dinner was hosted to welcome the visiting diplomats. During the dinner, local municipalities under OR Tambo District made presentations highlighting the investment opportunities that are within their space.
The visit formed part of a series of public participation events conducted by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation across the country, pursuant to government’s commitment to working directly with communities in addressing some of the country’s challenges.
