King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality has sworn in its new council members that will lead the municipality for the next five years. The council sitting that was held at Mthatha City Hall on 22 November 2021 has saw Councillor Nyaniso Goodman Nelani being re-elected as the Executive Mayor of KSD Municipality while Councillor Nomamfengu Siyo-Sokhuthu was elected as the Speaker of Council. The council further went on electing Councillor Bongani Mlanjeni to be the Chief Whip of Council.
Councillor Nelani is retaining this position as he took over the reins in 2018 from Councillor Dumani Zozo who has since resigned.
In his acceptance speech, the Executive Mayor called upon all council members to put aside political differences and work together to improve the lives of KSD community as people are in dire need of service delivery.
The Executive Mayor also announced members of his Mayoral Committee which saw Cllr Zukisa Gana leading Budget and Treasury, Cllr Nombulelo Sibeko as the head of Human Settlement and Disaster Management.
Cllr Mkhanyiseli Dudumayo was announced as the Portfolio Head for Rural and Economic Development. Planning, Research and Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) will be led by Cllr Yanga Gwadiso while Cllr Noluvuyo Mayi to oversee Social Services and Special Programmes portfolio.
The Executive Mayor also assigned Cllr Ziyanda Nokayi to be in charge of Infrastructure Department, Cllr Zoliswa Madyibi was assigned as the portfolio Head for Corporate Services, Cllr Mlawuli Marhasha was assigned as the chairperson for Public Transport, Community Safety and Liaison. Cllr Sihlwele Nyengane was announced as the head of Community Services.
