KSD Executive Mayor, Cllr N. Nelani, awarded the top three winners of the greenest wards competition on Friday, 21 November 2025, at Gerald Hawkes Stadium (formerly known as Mthatha Stadium).
The competition aimed at promoting a clean environment and encouraging communities to be involved in keeping their area clean.
The winners were awarded with tools to keep their wards clean and green.
Ward 8 took the first position and was awarded with a bakkie (Isuzu), a tractor, grass cutters (15), chain saws (3), two-stroke oils (10), nylon 2 kg (10), and 2 loud hailers.
The second prize was taken by Ward 4, which received a Bakkie (Isuzu), grass cutting machines (10), 2 kg of nylon (5), chainsaws (2), and two-stroke oils (5).
Awarded a third place was Ward 3, and it went home with grass cutters (10), nylon 2 kg (5), chain saws (2), and two-stroke oil (5).
