King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Municipality successfully hosted a two-day Mega Strategic Planning Session under the theme “Building a Resilient KSD: Empowering Communities, Driving Economic Growth.”
The session, which was preceded by Mayoral Lekgotla, was held at ICC Premier Hotel in East London (KuGompo City) on the 11th and 12th of February, 2026.
The purpose of the Mega Strategic Planning Session was to strengthen institutional performance and chart a clear path toward sustainable development and improved service delivery.
The key objectives of the session were to:
•Discuss and assess institutional performance, planning, decision-making, and successful implementation of the Municipal programmes and projects.
• Align Municipal plans with other developmental plans of the government.
•Guidelines on new political, legislative government and environment.
• Identify new initiatives for resource mobilization.
Setting the scene, the Executive Mayor, Cllr N. Nelani, stated that the purpose of the session was to assess the performance of the Municipality against the plans outlined in the inception of the Council term. “The purpose is to take stock of what we committed to, what we achieved, where we fell short, and what must change in the remaining period of this term.”
He continues saying, “We are entrusted with improving the material conditions of our people, restoring confidence in local government, and ensuring that public resources have a visible impact in communities, street by street, village by village, ward by ward.”
The Executive Mayor further highlighted key milestones, including the efforts to combat crime, such as reviewing and enforcing bylaws and installing cameras to monitor crime.
