KSD Hosts AARTO Implementation Preparedness Workshop

The King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality Public Safety hosted an AARTO Legislation Workshop at Jerald Raymond Hawkes Stadium, bringing together Municipal officials to strengthen institutional preparedness for the implementation of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) system.

The workshop was conducted on Tuesday, 25 August 2026 by the National Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA), Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) and the Department of Transport (DoT), providing officials with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the AARTO legislation, processes and administrative requirements.

Key discussions focused on the management and processing of traffic infringements, compliance requirements, administrative procedures and the respective roles and responsibilities of Municipalities and road traffic authorities.

The engagement also provided a platform for officials to interact directly with the national authorities, seek clarity on implementation requirements and discuss practical considerations associated with the transition to the AARTO system.

Through engagements such as this, KSD Municipality continues to strengthen its institutional capacity and readiness while supporting national efforts to promote road safety, compliance and responsible road-user behaviour.

The workshop reaffirmed the importance of coordinated efforts between all relevant stakeholders in ensuring the effective implementation of AARTO and contributing to safer roads and communities.
