On Wednesday, 25 September 2024, the office of the Executive Mayor conducted a mayoral Imbizo for Ward 35 community in Qokolweni Mission.
The purpose of Imbizo is for the consultation of communities, engage them on services delivery issues, and address their challenges. Members of the Mayoral Committee and directorates for different departments within the municipality were also part of the event to account on issues raised by the community of ward 35 and provide possible solutions.
The Executive Mayor, Cllr. G.N Nelani, in his speech, highlighted extortion issue (Protection fee), escalating crime rate and further encouraged victims to visit Mthatha Public Protector’s office or report anonymously to 082 387 1561.
With the effort to provide essential food support, the Executive Mayor handed over ten food parcels to some of the families in the ward while four pre-schools benefited pre-school chairs and pre-school tables.
