The King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality, led by Executive Mayor Cllr N. Nelani, successfully hosted a Mayoral Imbizo at Ngcingane in Ward 16 on Friday, 26 June 2026, reaffirming its commitment to responsive governance and improved service delivery.
The Imbizo served as an important platform for direct engagement between the Municipality and residents, allowing community members to raise concerns, identify service delivery priorities and receive first-hand feedback from the Executive Mayor and government stakeholders.
As part of the programme, several government departments and entities brought essential services directly to the community through a “Services on Wheels” initiative. Participating stakeholders included:
Department of Health
South African Police Service (SAPS)
Department of Human Settlements
Independent Electoral Commission (IEC)
Eskom
Eastern Cape Liquor Board
South African National Defence Force (SANDF)
Department of Home Affairs
Addressing the community, Executive Mayor Cllr N. Nelani reaffirmed the Municipality’s commitment to building a responsive, accountable and people-centred local government. He emphasised the importance of working in partnership with communities and other spheres of government to accelerate service delivery and improve the quality of life for all residents.
The Municipality remains committed to taking government closer to the people by creating platforms that encourage public participation, strengthen accountability and ensure that communities have direct access to essential government services.
