The King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality has officially commenced its public consultation process on the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and draft budget for the upcoming 2026-2027 financial year, calling on residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to actively participate in shaping local development priorities.
The consultation process, which forms a critical part of participatory governance, provides an opportunity for communities to voice their needs, concerns, and expectations regarding service delivery, infrastructure development, and municipal spending.
The KSD Executive Mayor, Cllr N. Nelani emphasized the importance of community involvement in ensuring that the IDP and budget reflect the real needs of residents. “Public participation is not just a legislative requirement; it is a cornerstone of transparent and accountable governance. We encourage all residents to take part and make their voices heard,” he stated.
The IDP serves as the Municipality’s strategic roadmap, outlining key development priorities and projects over a five-year period, while the annual budget allocates financial resources to support these plans. The consultation process allows the Municipality to align its planning and budgeting with community expectations and pressing service delivery needs.
During the sessions, officials will present proposed projects and budget allocations, followed by open discussions where community members can provide input, raise concerns, and suggest additional priorities. Key focus areas include infrastructure maintenance, water and sanitation services, electricity provision, housing development, and local economic growth.
Residents are encouraged to attend scheduled ward-based meetings, submit written comments, or engage through digital platforms where available. Feedback gathered during this process will be considered before the final IDP and budget are tabled for approval by Council.
The Municipality reiterated its commitment to inclusive development and urged all stakeholders to participate actively. “Together, we can build a responsive and sustainable municipality that meets the needs of all our communities,” the Mayor concluded.
The public consultation process will run over the coming weeks, with dates and venues communicated through official municipal channels.
