King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality hosted a Business Breakfast for the KSD business fraternity at the Savoy Hotel on Thursday 20 November 2025. The purpose of the session was to discuss various topics and collaborate on solutions to enhance the business environment.
The Director for Rural and Economic Development, Mr. M. Mandla presented an overview of the KSD business precincts and areas for development, highlighting the nineteen development precincts earmarked for investment.
Various government entities formed part of the gathering and gave presentations regarding programmes designed to support people in the business sector.
The Department of Small Business Development (DSBD) gave a presentation on the infrastructure support Programme and other funding opportunities; the OR Tambo Ntinga Development Agency presented planned key strategic programme /projects for KSDM; the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) presented funding opportunities and an update on the Industrial Park; the Coega Development Corporation (COEGA) gave an update on the planned SEZ as a tool to attract investment and promote industrial development; the Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency (SEDFA) presented areas of support for the retail and informal businesses; and the Department of Land Reform and Rural Development (DLRRD).
Standing in for the Executive Mayor, the MMC for Budget and Treasury, Cllr. Z. Gana, said that the Municipality has made progress in fostering an environment that is favourable for business operations, emphasizing the problems of crime and traffic congestion, which have since improved, as well as efforts to improve basic services such as roads, electricity, waste management and water to keep and attract investors.
In addition, the MMC Gana urged the businesses to pay rates for KSD to be able to deliver services. He also mentioned that the municipality offers incentives to investors who wish to invest in KSD. In conclusion, he called on the business fraternity to work with us to improve KSD.
The event showcased the municipality’s commitment to supporting economic growth and development in the region.
