KSD Observes 67 Minutes Through Cleanup Drive

The King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality embarked on a cleaning campaign to commemorate Nelson Mandela International Day. The cleaning was conducted in the downtown area in partnership with local businesses such as OBC Supermarkets, Link Pharmacy and Mr Bread Bakery.

This effort was led by MMC S. Nyengane, who is the Portfolio Head for Community Services.

Cllr. Nyengane emphasized the significance of maintaining a clean environment and embodying the values of Nelson Mandela. “We have chosen to dedicate our 67 minutes to cleaning so as to ensure that people live in a healthy environment.”

He also urged the community to refrain from illegal dumping, highlighting that the municipality is doing everything in its power to beautify the city and plant trees to keep it green.

The day’s theme, “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity,” underscored the ongoing struggle against social injustices.

Nelson Mandela International Day, which is celebrated annually on the 18th of July, honours South Africa’s first black president, Dr Nelson Mandela. The day encourages citizens to perform acts of kindness and humanity, contributing to a better world.
