King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality

KSD PROVIDES HAWKERS WITH GAZEBOS

In endeavours to support informal traders, King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality has provided one hundred and forty-two (142) KSD hawkers with gazebos. A total of seventy-four (74) hawkers operating in Mthatha received gazebos while Mqanduli hawkers had a share of sixty-eight (68).

These gazebos will protect street vendors from unconducive weather conditions while they are trying to make ends meet.

Concurrently, the mini tents will also play a role to improve the image of both Mthatha and Mqanduli towns which is part of cleaning and beautification plan of the municipality.

This initiative is one among many initiatives that have been done to support KSD informal traders. These initiatives include the provision of business equipment for hawkers; the training of eighty-five (85) Ntozonke informal traders on sewing and ongoing assistance given to hawkers to register their businesses.

The support is done in partnership with various government entities including Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA), Department of Small Business Development and OR Tambo District Municipality.
