King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality hosted the Miss KSD 2022 Beauty Pageant at BT Ngebs Mall. Contestants hail from each of the 37 wards under KSD jurisdiction.
The purpose of this event was to empower young girls through building confidence and leadership skills, as the winners will be the role models. The winner will also play a role as an advocate for issues affecting young women in our society. Moreover, the platform will encourage them to pursue their dreams.
The second princess spot was claimed by Ayakha Piyose, age 20 from ward 10. Ayakha holds a National Diploma certificate in Human Resources. She walked away with a smartphone. Siso Mditshane a 19-year-old grade 12 leaner, from Marhambeni under ward 11 became the first princess. The girl was awarded a tablet. Anathi Zimkhitha Gwiliza was crowned as Miss KSD 2022. Miss KSD hailing from Ngangelizwe under Ward 01 who is a graduate in accounting earned a laptop.
Prior to the Miss KSD Beauty Pageant event, KSD had its annual Mayor’s Cup Sport Tournament. The teams are drawn from All KSD Wards. In the finals, eight clubs participated, and Ward 29 football club won the football title while Ward 10 became the netball champions. The programme sought to support young people who take part in sports and motivate them to maintain their focus and abstain from negative activities like crime and drug use.
