KSD Executive Mayor Cllr. G.N. Nelani today, May 5, 2023, convened a meeting with Ward 29 residents to handover a contractor that will be responsible for the upgrading of Mqanduli internal roads.
The Executive Mayor was accompanied by MMC for Infrastructure, Cllr. Z. Nokayi to handover this project valued at R38.588.670.90. The upgrading of these internal roads is funded by the Office of the Premier under the Small-Town Revitalization Program. This is among projects that have been happening to upgrade small towns.
The project is for the duration of 16 months, commencing next Monday, with 35 EPWPs to benefit and four SMMEs to be subcontracted. The service providers appointed are Batabile Construction Services and Leko Engineering Consultants. The Executive Mayor also put emphasis on the Municipality’s ambition to become a Metro in 2026.
The scope of the project includes the construction of sidewalks, road signs, markings, water drainages and erosion facilities amongst others.
The road length is 3,7km long, 6m wide and 800mm thickness surfaced.
Executive Mayor and MMC Nokayi pleaded with the community to unite in welcoming this long-awaited service delivery saying, ‘people should not fight amongst themselves and with each other because that will hinder any processes and progress to develop communities’.
