The King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality recently conducted public hearings in Mthatha and Mqanduli to present its annual report for the 2024/2025 financial year, providing residents and stakeholders with an opportunity to engage with municipal leadership on service delivery and financial performance.
The hearings were convened by the Municipality as part of the municipality’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and public participation in local governance.
During the session, the Executive Mayor, Cllr. N. Nelani, presented an overview of the annual report, highlighting key achievements, financial performance, and challenges experienced during the reporting period. The report outlines progress made in areas such as infrastructure development, housing construction, economic developments, waste management, and community services.
Members of the public, community organizations, and local stakeholders were invited to make submissions and raise concerns regarding municipal operations. Issues raised included infrastructure maintenance, enforcement of by-laws, and the pace of housing development projects.
Municipal leadership welcomed the feedback and reaffirmed the importance of community participation in strengthening governance processes.
“The municipality remains committed to ensuring that residents have the opportunity to participate in oversight processes and contribute to improving service delivery,” the Executive Mayor said.
All comments and submissions received during the hearings will be compiled into a report and submitted to the municipal council for consideration.
