KSD received equipment support for community safety and environmental purposes. The equipment will be utilized by the lifeguards for our beaches, and some of the equipment will be used for keeping our towns and surroundings clean.
Speaking at this event held on 18 July 2025 at Mthatha Stadium, O.R. Tambo Community Services Portfolio Chairperson, Cllr N. Gcingca, urged community members to observe environmental ethics, which, among other things, include keeping our spaces clean. She further urged fellow councillors to preach the gospel of environmental ethics whenever they get a chance to speak to the public, as this will help our people to be wary of strategies to counter climate change that bring about destructive floods.
Rendering the gratitude remarks, Cllr S. Nyengane applauded O.R. Tambo for supporting KSD with these valuable tools of trade. He further revealed that KSD has swimming lesson programmes which will be rolled out at both Savoy and Ngangelizwe swimming pools.
Officials were urged to safeguard these tools, which include two high quality grasscutters, two blowers, lifeguard equipment and three garbage skips.
The initiative was also part of celebrating the late international icon, Dr. Nelson ‘Ah Dalibhunga’ Mandela.
