The King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality’s Office of the Speaker together with stakeholders, led by the Hounarable Speaker of Council, Cllr. Nomamfengu Siyo-Sokutu held a community outreach program on May 15, 2024, at Nothintwa Community Hall in Ward 25.
The purpose of the outreach was to inform the community about the services departments and the Municipality render to serve them. Departments had services on wheels, bringing them closer to people who need them most.
Standing in for the Executive Mayor, MMC for Community Services, Cllr. Sihlwele Nyengane encouraged the communities to work with the government in programs that will assist them.
Since the initiation season is approaching, the Initiation Forum warned parents not to fall into the trap of sending their children to untrained circumcision schools.
SASSA, spoke about their new grant for orphans called Child Support Grant Top Up. Also warned not to get grants using back channels because those are criminal offenses.
USSASA, advised people to register for the government free DSTV. They also warned people not to fall into the scheme of paying for the installation because everything is free.
IEC, explained that on the 27th and the 28th, it is special voters who vote. For home visits people are urged to stay in their homes because IEC representatives will be doing home visits. There are three ballot papers for these elections represented by colours: Blue is for the National Compensatory Ballot, Orange is for National Region Ballot and lastly, Pink is for the Provincial Legislature Ballot. The IEC representative told the gathering that not voting must not be an option because it is a right.
SAPS informed people that they do affidavid and certify on site. Department of Home Affairs informed people that new born babies should be registered within 30 days to avoid late registration of birth which ends up being a long process. IDs were applied for on site.
Department of Health offered on wheels routine immununasation for children, manor ailments and family planning.
Department of Social Development, informed about their programs which include counseling for GBV, registering people for food parcels, among others.
The Post Office encouraged people to go to the nearest Post Office if your local one is closed. It was further stated that people should complain to relevant places should there be a need, via email support@santec.co.za, via Whatsapp 0600625457 and call via 0860736832.
