In efforts to limit the disruption of services to customers due to power interruptions, King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality has installed a backup generator for its offices that are situated in Munitata building.

The initiative marks a significant milestone for the municipality as it paves a way to efficient and improved rendering of services to KSD communities and ratepayers.

This investment on installation of a backup generator was necessitated by the serious negative impacted towards customer service as members of the public could not be serviced and the revenue of the municipality could not be collected at times as the ratepayers could not pay when there is no electricity.

The project was executed within a period of thirteen (13) months starting from May 2020 to June 2021 with a cost of R3,7 million.

The backup generator will also play a pivotal role in shaping our strategy towards being a smart city.

The generator was officially handed over to the municipality on Monday, 10 August 2021.
