On Friday, 12 August 2022, King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality conducted a Mayoral Imbizo at Rotary Stadium in Ngangelizwe. The purpose of the outreach was to engage communities regarding the government programmes that seek to advance service delivery in KSD area. The outreach also meant to close the gap between government and people by bringing other sector departments to present their plans set to uplift the communities.   

Mayoral Imbizo is part of public participation which is informed by Chapter 4 of the Municipality Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000 as amended. This is also informed by the directive of the Constitution of the Republic.

The Executive Mayor, Cllr. Nelani, led the programme and outlined the strategic pillars that the municipality will concentrate on during this five-year term.

The first pillar being the infrastructure development. The second pillar that the mayor mentioned is the revival of the economy particularly rural and township economy.

Capacity building to harness skills that will be technological savvy to accommodate the fourth industrial revolution is also one of municipal goals. Another pillar is the improved service standard in order to ensure that the municipality delivers services that are customer satisfactory.

Furthermore, the Executive Mayor shared that municipality has developed a Community Safety Plan which he has taken upon himself as a flagship programme and will ensure the effectiveness of the Community Safety Forum in tackling the issue of crime.  

The municipality also took stock of the issues and concerns raised by communities, including escalation of crime within the area, the provision of houses, water supply challenge, facilities for social services and poor road maintenance.
