King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Nyaniso Nelani visited Mqanduli service delivery initiatives that are taking place in Mqanduli town. The purpose of the visit was to conduct oversight on the status of the projects and identify any challenges that need to be address.

A R29 million Mqanduli Drivers Licence Testing Centre (DLTC) is one of the projects, and work on the office building, testing area, and parking lot is expected to be finished by the end of June 2023.

The second project is the construction of internal roads. Their construction has just started at the beginning of May 2023, and it will take a duration of 16 months.  An amount of R38 million has been committed towards this initiative.

On both projects, more than 80 jobs were generated, and SMMEs also benefited.

“We are visiting these projects to assess whether the work is going according to plan. We are happy with the report we have received and that these projects will be completed within the scheduled time. DLTC will be completed in June this year and internal streets will follow in April next year,” said the mayor.

The Mqanduli massive development is part of the Small-Town Revitalisation Programme that is being led by the Office of the Premier in the Eastern Cape.

The revival of this small town seeks to create a conducive environment for investment attraction and bring services close to the community of Mqanduli and surroundings.
