The King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality in partnership with the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) and the Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT) had on Thursday hosted an Informal Business Support Programme Handover ceremony at the ECDC offices in Fort Gale.
The purpose of this gathering was to handover tools of trade (which included industrial and domestic sewing machines, fabrics, generators, chain saws and many more) to small businesses. This handover prioritized businesses in welding, manufacturing as well as clothing and textile.
In his opening remarks, MMC for Rural and Economic Development, Cllr M. Dudumayo, standing in for the Executive Mayor said one of KSD Municipality’s priorities is economic recovery, because after Covid 19 the economy was hard hit. He added that this handover forms part of that economic recovery because the beneficiaries have a responsibility to not only benefit themselves but to also create employment.
