On the 01st of August 2023, KSD Municipality held a Traditional Leader’s Imbizo at Khalalo Community Hall, Ward 21.
Unpacking the purpose of the gathering, Cllr. Unathi Daniso, speaking on behalf of the Speaker of Council mentioned that the event was arranged to bring together government departments to the people to update them on current government projects. He said the Public Participation office ensures that people are valued and therefore, providing services to them is achievable through collaboration.
As KSD Municipality made an application to the Demarcation Board for Outer Boundary Redetermination and Recategorization, it is imperative to keep communities abreast of the progress made so far and the role of the Demarcation Board in facilitating this process.
Standing in for KSD Executive Mayor, MMC for Public Safety, Cllr. Mlamli Marasha said that the Council has clear intentions of upgrading the status of the Municipality to a Metropolitan. Making mention of identified precincts for development to minimize traveling distances for government services, Coffee Bay being one those precincts.
KSD Chief Whip, Cllr. Bongani Mlanjeni closed the gathering with a message of support and vote of thanks mentioning Municipal plans to procure new fleet to improve service delivery, approved bylaws on dilapidated buildings, illegal foreign nationals, upgrading of Mqanduli town and plans for Mapuzi (Government) precinct.
