The OR Tambo Community of Practice (CoP) for Innovation-driven Local Economic Development (I-LED) was established with the participation of King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Municipality. The inaugural seating was hosted by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubator at the Walter Sisulu University in collaboration with the OR Tambo district municipality.
The proceedings of the event included a feedback session where Innovation Champions shared the results of a recent study that investigated the existence and functionality of LED platforms. Ms. Nasiphi Kabane, our Innovation Champion, was among the team of fieldworkers who conducted this appraisal of the landscape of LED platforms in KSD.
The findings of this research will be available in a report and various knowledge products. The next step is to inspire local businesses to establish a KSD local CoP. For more information, please contact our KSD Innovation Champion.
The IC4LED and COP programmes are initiatives of the Department of Science and Innovation supported by the Technology Innovation Agency and Human Sciences Research Council. These initiatives aim to introduce and institutionalize innovation in LED practice to support local economies.
