KSD Municipality through its Budget and Treasury office held a 2024/25 Budget Engagement Business Breakfast meeting at Savoy Hotel and Conference Centre. The purpose of the session which was held on Friday, 07 June 2024 was to give KSD Business and Professional Community an opportunity to engage with our Medium-Term Revenue and Expenditure Framework (Budget) 2024/2025 to 2026/2027 as tabled in council on the 24th of May 2024.

The Executive Mayor stated that the municipality has a mandate to engage with the community following the approval of the budget by the council saying that “the Municipality has an Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget which are combined in the Service Delivery Implementation Plan which talks about our programmes for the 2024/2025 financial year” he said.

He further touched on the issue of residents that do not pay for municipal services as it negatively affects the Municipality. “The community is expecting the municipality to render the services; however those services need to be funded hence the municipality charges for them. We are engaging with residents to change the culture of not paying their bills, residents should understand that in order the municipality to function they must pay their accounts”.

During the session, the Municipality revealed that KSD Municipality has a plan to charge lower rates to new companies which invested in KSD with the aim to attract more investors in KSD.  Businesses investing R300 million and more would get an 80% rebate on their municipal bills for at least two years while those that invest between R200 million and R300 million would get 70% off their municipal rates bills for two successive years.
