On the 19 November 2020, Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation Minister Lindiwe Sisulu together with O.R Tambo District Munipality Executive Mayor Cllr Thokozile Sokanyile and KSD Executive Mayor Cllr Nyaniso Nelani visited households in Ward 14 that were badly impacted by hail storm.
The visit follows severe weather condition characterised by thunderstorms and strong winds which occurred on Tuesday night, 17 November 2020.The purpose of the visit was to assess devastation caused by the storm.
The storm destroyed schools, houses and interrupted the supply of electricity in some communities. A briefing was held at Mthatha Airport to discuss plans to mitigate the impact this challenge have on communities and to find a way forward.
