Leading by example, KSD Mayoral Committee members and management led by Executive Mayor, Cllr Nyaniso Nelani received their Pfizer COVID 19. The vaccination took place on Monday, 05 July 2021. The purpose was to get vaccinated, and to encourage people to follow suit.

The Executive Mayor expressed his joy for receiving the jab saying it has been a comfortable and quick process.

“I am proud to have received my vaccination today. It was a quick and painless process and I commend the professionalism of staff from the Department of Health.  I would like to encourage the KSD community to take part in the registration process and get the vaccine. We have been waiting on a solution for the past twelve months and it is here.” Said the executive mayor.

He added saying that people must protect themselves from the virus through the vaccination programme that the government has rolled out.

“This is the moment we have all been waiting for. Let us get our lives back. I urge you to take this opportunity with both hands not only to protect yourselves but to protect the lives of others, let us rebuild our economy together. Register as soon as possible.” He urged.

The country continues to experience devastating waves of coronavirus infections and the rapid spread of the DELTA variant has proven to be extremely serious. The rate at which people are infected is showing that it leads to many more people becoming ill and requiring treatment at the same time. The objective for vaccinations is the spread of the virus.

The vaccine is a way to build your body’s natural immunity to a disease before you get sick, keeping you from getting and spreading the disease. Currently, the vaccination programme is targeting individuals who are 50 years and above.
