KSD Municipality had on Wednesday, 28 July 2021, officially handed over the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Callaway and Eagle roads to Mfuraa Trading and Projects construction company.

The municipality further introduced the contractor to the community of Callaway under ward 9.

The project value of R 16,9 million is expected to be implemented within 10 months starting from August 2021

“Our roads need to be maintained in order to allow economic activities to run smoothly without hindrance. We urge the community to own this project by protecting it and avoid water leakages from their yards and avoid opening car wash business on the roads as they destroy a tar and create potholes”, urged the Infrastructure Portfolio Head, Cllr Nombulelo Sibeko.

Approximately 30 jobs will be created and stand to benefit the local people. Furthermore, a minimum of 2 local SMMEs will get an opportunity to participate as sub-contractors during the construction.

The scope of work includes 2.3 km with 6m width of asphalt surfaces road with associated stormwater structures etcetera.
