A paver is a piece of construction equipment used to lay asphalt on roads. It lays the asphalt flat and provides minor compaction before it is compacted by a roller.
The machines will also improve the procedure for pothole patching and road rehabilitation which in turn increase the life span of the roads.
Road scrapper machine will assist to scrape potholes and reuse the same material to produce asphalt that can be utilised during road construction. The initiative will curb cost and generate revenue since the municipality will be able to produce its own asphalt.
Furthermore, the Municipality has launched the construction of 1.3km sidewalk from Mthatha York Road down to Bridge Street.
According to the Executive Mayor Cllr Nyaniso Nelani the sidewalks construction is in line with implementation of Kigali Model in terms of cleaning and beautification of our towns.
