King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality partnered with Nduli Nature Reserve and Mthatha Dam Resort to support vulnerable groups.
The partnership was mainly to support disadvantaged schools within KSDM. Most of these schools are currently do not have access to many social services from government given their geographic location.
The initiative was not only to give back to the communities in form of school shoes and other related support, but the programme also focussed on empowering schools through information sharing and encouraging learners to focus on their academic activities.
During his address, KSDM Executive Mayor Cllr Nyaniso Nelani encouraged leaners to focus on their stidies and persue their dreams. “You must know that, not even the sky is the limit, your hardships and lack of school shoes do not define you. You can be whatever that you want in life” he said.
The team donated 230 pairs of school shoes 100 backpacks, sanitary towels and stationery to the needy learners identified by the school management. The handing over took place on the 24 February 2022 at Mthatha Dam Resort.
Six schools benefited from this program and were grateful for the support.
