KSD has forged a partnership with DICLA Training and Projects on Agricultural Skills Development. The goal of the partnership is to provide training on primary and secondary agricultural skills that are most needed for KSD farming communities.
The programme is targeting small scale farmers in KSD area and set to equip them through short courses, skills development programmes, learnerships leading to diplomas and apprenticeships.
The initiative forms part of KSDM commitment to help small scale farmers to succeed by providing assistance and facilitating capacity building since they (farmers) also play a critical role to the growth of the local economy but struggle to reach markets and receive high quality support services.
DICLA Training and Projects is an organisation that provides accredited training courses aligned to unit standard as per SAQA requirements in the agricultural sector for the employed, unemployed, emerging farmers, the youth, women and people with disabilities.
One of the objectives of DICLA is to improve the quality of life for the local and farming communities through training and skills acquisition and assisting to increase their income to establish quality lives for their families.
The implementation of DICLA Skills Development programme will assist young people of KSD to be self-reliant and reduce unemployment and poverty by promoting entrepreneurial skills.
