PUBLIC SAFETY
Public Safety department is responsible for the following functions within KSD municipality:
- Manage traffic services
- Provide law enforcement services
- Render driving licence testing centre
- Render driver licence renewal services
- Provide motor vehicle licencing and motor vehicle registration services
- Provides fire and rescue services
- Provides disaster management and coordination
- Manage traffic administration and law enforcement
- Provide vehicle testing for road worthiness
- Provide access control service and guarding of municipal assets
How to apply for
Learner’s licence
To apply for learner’s licence, you need to bring the following documents:
- Identity document (ID).
- Two identical black-and-white photographs.
- Proof of residential address.
- A booking fee of R69.00
- Pen, Pencil & Eraser (on the day of exam)
Driving Licence
For Driving Licence you need to be have a learner’s licence and the following
- Identity document (ID).
- Proof of residential address
- Own Roadworthy Vehicle (on the day of Testing)
- And a fee of R216

Register a motor vehicle
For renewal you must bring your Identity Document (ID) for renewals. Fee is determined by a system.
Change of ownership
To get a registration certificate you must bring the following:
- Identity document (ID) for Seller and Buyer
- Original Certificate for Motor Vehicle
- Proof of Residence
- (provided that there are no penalties)
