In a joint effort to strengthen the local food production for the community of Silverton under ward 01 KSD municipality, a donation of 135 bags of spinach seedlings were donated by Natalite Investments Company.
KSD Portfolio Head for Social Services and Special Programmes, Hon. Cllr Zukisa Gana said that not everyone can afford to buy fresh vegetables at the time when the economy is strongly affected by COVID-19 pandemic and is systematically on recession.
Therefore, the support for food security by means of food parcels is highly necessary as a short-term measure, however, communities are encouraged to extensively priorities the agricultural sector for healthy living.
This initiative is in line with One Household One Garden programme for the sustainable food security that assists communities to be able to provide food for their families and aim to reduce the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Communities are urged to comply with the Lockdown Regulations to reduce the spread of the virus!!!
