KSD EIGHT DESTITUDE FAMILIES RECIEVE NEW HOUSES

MEC for Human Settlements, Ms Nonceba Kontsiwe has on the 04th of October 2021 visited King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality to hand over the newly built houses to eight destitute families under ward 34 and 32. This follows the intervention made by premier after he paid a visit to ward 34 and made a commitment to provide houses to these families that were living in mud structures, and they are social grant dependents.

The MEC was accompanied by Minister of Small Business, Ms Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, KSD Municipality Council Speaker, Cllr Thandeka Maqoko and KSD Executive Mayor, Cllr Nyaniso Nelani.

The beneficiaries that were identified were Nongcinile Sitonga (75), Ntombekhaya Mxenge (69), Nolindile Gabuza (53), Nokomityi Nqolongo (53), Vuyolwethu Gengelele (35), all are from Mahibe village under ward 34. There were also three destitute families from Qokolweni village that benefited from the intervention.

The MEC mentioned that the Department is prioritizing the destitute and vulnerable groups in society, focusing on elderly, disabled, child-headed households and military veterans.

The 40m2 houses with two bedrooms, a lounge and an open plan kitchen have been constructed with a tune of R170 000 each.
