How to apply
Apply for a trading license using the Business Registration Application Form and submit it to our Business Licences Office together with the required documents.
Documents required for the application
- Copy of Identity Document (ID)
- CK Document
- Tax Clearance Certificate or SARS confirmation letter
- Proof of property ownership (if applicable)
- Lease agreement or confirmation letter from the landlord.
Fees for business licences
Fees vary from the type of business the license is required for.
- Informal businesses: R19.00 – R300.00 (renewed monthly)
- Formal businesses: R 1 887.14 (renewed annually)
- Franchise: R 3 145.23 (renewed annually)
Registration for Spaza Shop
Required Documents:
- Application Letter
- Identity Document
- Letter from Traditional Leader
- Letter from Ward Councillor
- Lease Agreement/Letter from the Landlord
- CK (company registration)
- SARS Certificate
- Police Report (Affidavit).
Annual Tariffs for Spaza Shops
- Foreign National Partnering with RSA is R 5 000.
- Foreign National without partnership is R 10 000.
- South African Owned Spaza is R 1 500.
- Government-Supported Spaza is R 2 500.
