KSD Strengthens Collaboration with Traditional Leaders

The Speaker of the King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality, Cllr. N. Siyo-Sokutu, led a Traditional Leaders Consultation held at Mthatha Stadium aimed at strengthening cooperation between Traditional Leaders and the Municipality to improve governance, enhance service delivery and build resilient communities.

The consultation provided a platform for constructive engagement on key issues affecting local communities. Discussions focused on the implementation of the Liquor Trading Bylaw and its impact on rural areas, particularly in promoting safer and more regulated trading practices.

Various municipal departments also presented their service delivery mandates to ensure better coordination and understanding between the Municipality and Traditional Leaders. Preparations for the upcoming winter initiation season formed part of the discussions, with stakeholders emphasizing the importance of safety, community awareness and collaborative monitoring during the period.

The meeting further engaged on the Formal and Informal Trading Bylaw, highlighting the Municipality’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for both formal businesses and informal traders while ensuring compliance with municipal regulations.
