King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality in partnership with SALGA (South African Local Government Association) and O.R Tambo District Municipality had a two (2) day Inaugural Summit from the 19th to the 20th of November 2015 at Coffee Bay Hotel.
Coffee Bay residents will benefit from this development as it will create job opportunities for them. Chief Ngwenyathi who hails at Coffee Bay said “on behalf of the Tshezi clan and the Coffee Bay Community at large we appreciate and support this development, we are happy that, at last, our place has been considered for such a positive development. We have beautiful places that will undoubtedly entice tourists, this is our time to shine.
Concluding his speech, the Chief also encouraged the youth to participate in the development in order to get necessary skills. KSD Executive Mayor, Councillor Nonkoliso Ngqongwa urged government departments to provide bursaries on Land Survey and Marine studies for the youth of Coffee Bay, as their professions will be needed the most when Coffee Bay is being developed.
“The development of Coffee Bay as a town will be of benefit to the people of Coffee Bay, as some of the services from government departments will be made available to them rather than spending their hard-earned cash travelling to towns far away”, quipped the Executive Mayor. Honourable MEC Thandiswa Marawu of the Department of Roads and Public Works was one of the attendees. She first expressed her gratitude for the invitation, she realised that Coffee Bay, as a worth place as it is, had beautiful forests and sea. Honourable MEC Said, “I support the vision of SALGA and KSD Municipality.
As Coffee Bay is going to be one of the KSD Towns soon the first people to benefit is youth of this area. The Department of Roads and Public Works is going to focus on Access Roads to attract more tourists in Coffee Bay. The Department has already started the programme of Wild Coast Meander and busy with pothole filling. The Department of Roads and Publics Works in partnership with Universities and FET’S will help to support this development progress. Working together we can do more”. This indicate that this Municipality is serious about the development and not leaving aside rural areas in terms of development.
