King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality has collaborated with SANRAL for the development of R61. The meeting was between the municipality, SANRAL and Local Business chambers held on hybrid and physical at Rotary Stadium.
The purpose was to present information around the upgrade of R61 Bhaziya to Mthatha Airport scheduled to resume in September 2021.
The purpose of the engagement was to outline SANRAL’s 14-Point-Plan for the benefit of emerging contractors in various sectors, but more focused on construction sector.
The project is targeting local businesses within KSD to benefit from the proposed development. 31 KSD SMMEs are expected to benefit from R61 road upgrade from Bhaziya to Mthatha.
The Project Liaison Committee has been formed to look into the business support for local SMMEs. The municipality together with SANRAL will continue to engage the local business chambers for project implementation and monitoring.
