Ngangelizwe destitute families receive brand new homes

MEC for Human Settlements, Honourable Nonceba Kontsiwe together with KSD Executive Mayor, Cllr Nyaniso Nelani and other dignitaries handed over houses to destitute families in Ngangelizwe Township today (04 July 2022).

This is a project of 141 houses and forms part of the efforts by the EC Department of Human Settlements to prioritirise the most destitute and vulnerable, including the elderly, people with disabilities, child headed households and military veterans, by providing them with safe and decent quality homes thereby restoring their dignity.

The house is built using alternative technologies (clay and mortar) which are eco-friendly.

One of the beneficiaries include, 32-year-old Luyanda Ngalo who lives with his family of four in Ngangelizwe, Ward 1. The family was staying in a flat which is leaking during adverse weather conditions. A good Samaritan contributed to the family with two beds, couch, kitchen cupboard, two plate electric stove, blankets, curtains and groceries.
